Well, today is the third day that I went for a walk. The sky is nearly cloudless blue, there is no breeze and its quite warm out. As a matter of fact, I unzipped my jacket and was quite comfortable walking. The photo above was taken in New Lowell, Ontario and is from my niece Alicia Lawson's blog: http://dustandbones.blog.com/ Please visit to see how her 365 project is going. Her other website is http://abandoned-echoes.deviantart.com/. As I am taking my first steps in writing, Alicia is actively pursuing her chosen career as a photographer.
It's amazing what a few days in a row of activity will do in terms of changing my perspective on life, and improving my attitude in general. Although I consider myself a relatively cheerful person, the dull and gray weather we have had this fall and winter have taken their toll. Losing Chester didn't help matters, because although we tried so hard to help him, in the end we were helpless and had to make the most difficult decisions.
Tugby is still not a happy cat. We have found a new companion for him, but he still has to be neutered and we won't get him for a few more days. Tugby is acting like a child in the middle of summer vacation. You can almost hear him saying "I'm soooo bored. There's nothing to do. I've played with my catnip, chased my spring and my crinkly ball AND my tail. I'm lonely, sooo lonely. I don't even want to chase my tail again." Last night he was curled up in my lap when the phone rang, and I thought we were going to have to surgically remove him from the ceiling. He leaped straight up, and came down about 6 feet in front of me, tail swishing and glaring. For the rest of the night, he totally ignored me and cuddled my husband.
This time around, my
husband chose our new cat. I found both Tugby and Chester while he was
at work, and he wasn't really expecting two cats when he came home. The
new cat's name is Huck, short for Huckleberry. He is a tuxedo cat,
which means he has a white bib and paws but the rest of him is black.
He is 6 months old, slightly younger than Tugby, but we think they'll be
great friends once they have been properly introduced.
These are photos I took when we were checking Huck out before adopting him. He was very mellow, considering there were many cats and people around, and he wanted to get out of his cage and play. We met his foster mother, and she says he is a very loving little guy and is also very healthy. We can hardly wait to pick him up. Tugby doesn't seem to believe that he is going to have a new friend very soon, and since they're so close in age, I'm sure they're going to have a lot of fun together.
